Kosihikari (Jap. こしひかり, IPA: [koɕi çikaɾ ʲ i]) – a type of Japanese rice. Launched in 1956 in Fukui Prefecture. Has good taste, but vulnerable to disease. Grown in Japan, stretching from Kyushu in the Tohoku region. Japan's largest producer – Niigata Prefecture. As of 2005, the share of the Japanese market kosihikari rice is 38%. Outside of Japan, and grown in Avstaralii USA.
